Practice

My private practice of shamatha goes back ten years, but my formal study and practice with the Shambhala dharma began six years ago, while I was attending graduate school. I immediately immersed myself up to my very ears and attended all of the training and study programs that I could manage to attend - gradually completing the Way of Shambhala programming, up to and including the Golden Key Weekend, the Basic Goodness series, and two in-city weekthün retreats. I also had the opportunity to be accepted for Meditation Guide training, which I completed in the Winter of 2016.

Since then, my practice has mainly focused on Shambhala Meditation, shamatha-vipissana and löjong, providing others basic individual instruction in meditation as a Shambhala Guide, and helping with the monthly Shambhala Sadhana at the Ottawa Centre.

About

I am a teacher, a freelance editor, a recently graduated graduate student, and a reasonably sensible bundle of skandhas, presently inhabiting space in Ottawa and returning to school in September to study Sanskrit and ancient languages. With the help of the sangha, a little prajna, and a bit of ziji, I'm aspiring to bring these all together in some profound way to advance both the dharma and the mandala.

Main teachers

Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Acharya Richard John

Purpose

I am hoping to raise funds in order to attend Enlightened Society Assembly at Karmê Chöling from August 12-22, and thereby to deepen my practice and progress along the educators' path within the Shambhala tradition. I hope that by doing so, I can be of greater assistance within my meditation centre and community, by helping to staff and direct a wider array of course offerings and programs.

Offering

To dedicate my practice over the course of assembly to the generosity of those who offer their support and encouragement. And to keep them in mind as an example!

Also, to dedicate to them any poems that pop into my mind-stream during the occasion. :-)
